Becky Andrews: LOOK UP, MOVE FORWARD, and donation drive for Guide Dogs for the Blind

Weller Book Works was founded as Zion Bookstore nearly 90 years ago. Over the years we’ve been known as Sam Weller’s Books and Sam Weller’s Zion Bookstore. We are in our third generation of operations, owned and managed by Tony and Catherine Weller. Our staff includes four generations of Wellers and a remarkable team of book lovers. Our bookstore sells new, used and rare books in a space built to surprise and delight you in historic Trolley Square.

We’re happy to answer your questions and help you select just the right book.

Please join us for an inspiring event with Becky Andrews and her book, Look Up, Move Forward, Tuesday, August 20, at 6:30 PM.

When 18-year- old Becky Andrews is diagnosed with the degenerative eye condition Retinitis Pigmentosa—characterized by poor night vision and a complete lack of peripheral vision—she finally understands her childhood challenges of softball strikeouts, notorious clumsiness, and why she’s never been able to see the stars.

As her vision narrows, she must give up driving and accept her need for a mobility cane. In the process, she learns to embrace her new identity as a blind woman, one step at a time. Undeterred by the certainty of eventual blindness, Becky adopts a proactive approach to creating a life of purpose and joy.

Becky’s remarkable story of living life to the fullest is a journey of courage and determination. Part memoir and part resilience manifesto, Look Up, Move Forward will inspire readers to face their own lives with more creativity, grit, determination and joy.

There will also be a donation drive for Guide Dogs for the Blind during this event. Since 1942, Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) has been creating partnerships with people, dogs, and communities. With exceptional client services and a robust network of instructors, puppy raisers, donors, and volunteers, they prepare highly qualified guide dogs to serve and empower individuals who are blind or who have low vision throughout the United States and Canada. All of the services for our clients is provided free of charge, including personalized training and extensive post-graduation support, plus financial assistance for veterinary  care, if needed. Our work is made possible by the generous support of our donors and volunteers; they receive no government funding.
