Books and Bridges: Dr. Ravi Gupta speaks on The Bhagavad Gita
Weller Book Works was founded as Zion Bookstore nearly 90 years ago. Over the years we’ve been known as Sam Weller’s Books and Sam Weller’s Zion Bookstore. We are in our third generation of operations, owned and managed by Tony and Catherine Weller. Our staff includes four generations of Wellers and a remarkable team of book lovers. Our bookstore sells new, used and rare books in a space built to surprise and delight you in historic Trolley Square.
We’re happy to answer your questions and help you select just the right book.
On Thursday, July 18, at 6:30 PM, Dr. Ravi Gupta, Professor of Religious Studies at Utah State University, will discuss the meaning, influence, and spiritual power of this most famous of Hindu scripture. A Q&A and refreshments will follow. The lecture is free, open to the public, and made possible by a grant from Utah Humanities.
This event is organized by Books & Bridges — a community institute of ideas and conversation. Our mission is to facilitate discussion on the best of human thought. We explore the wisdoms of the world and apply them to modern life. We have no political, religious or ideological affiliation. In a society divided by uncivil discourse, the beauty of the humanities—novels, history, philosophy, poetry, ethics and epics—lifts us to our better angels. In our busy world we need space for friends and fellow learners to do a little more heart-to-heart and mind-to-mind.
