On February 23rd, Daniel Davison will conduct the Collector’s Chat on the Ancient Religions of Europe, the Mediterranean on the Near East. With his collection of prints, maps and books, he will take guests on a spoken tour through the cultures and connections of the ancient Western World. Topics will include ancient Jewish and Christian personalities, ancient Nineveh, St. Catherine's of Sinai, the Nuremberg Chronicle and Sanskrit Hindu texts. Daniel’s show-and-tell will include 19th century prints, academic Victorian books, a late 17th century British study of Islam and the Arabs with thick parchment-like pages, 19th century German books illustrating Masonic themes, an early 20th century Biblical Hebrew and Syriac-Aramaic grammar book and whatever else attracts his fancy.
