Collector's Book Salon: Delose Conner
On Friday, March 30, Delose Conner will lead our Collectors’ Chat. He has taught Honors World History, U. S. Government, Ancient Greek and Roman History, and History through the Great Books at Layton High School for more than 30 years. He has also taught Debate, Current Issues, Art History, and Human Anatomy as well as directing school plays and advising his school’s Anime Club. He advises the Layton Latinos in Action Crew, working for diversity and multicultural unity. Delose has worked at Boy Scout Camps for 46 summers – He has a reputation as a storyteller and is the author of Folk and Campfire Stories, the How-to Book on the Told Story. Of course, he collects scouting books.
His History through the Great Books is one of his favorite courses. His course description includes, “A liberal education is necessary for a full, happy, free, politically powerful, and service centered life. [Delose Conner introduces students] to the great ideas that shape our history, to hear the “speakers in the great conversation,” and to join in the search for truth. [To] see the common links of truth in the great writings of mankind, [and to] awaken … love for literature and a desire to read… and thus share the minds of those whose books have shaped our world [for] a life time of learning and education.
