What if the emergence of superhero comix had created a trend of real-life vigilantes in the 1940s? What if this would have changed world history? In the 80s, the U.S. would have won the Vietnam War and re-elected Richard Nixon.
On the verge of World War III with the Soviet Union, the Watchmen have been outlawed or forced to work for the government. Then, one of them gets killed, and maybe there is a plot to get rid of all vigilantes....
Brilliantly written and designed, dark, forever politically and personally relevant, and full of amazing characters, this is one of my favorite books.
2045. The one to find the Easter Egg hidden in the gigantic virtual reality of the OASIS will inherit the fortune of its creator. Between immersive gaming and a damaged real world, avatars and people help or fight each other. This is really cool sci-fi with great action and a very realistic future world (scary) plus a ton of nostalgic 80s pop culture candy. Awesome.
This was recommended to me by my ex-colleague John, whose word is law when it comes to fantasy.
The story of the making of a hero and the truth behind the legend, framed by a present time in which he is powerless and an inn-keeper. Mythical creatures, a University for Arcanists, the Fae, a scientific magic and the best hero ever.
